At W:O:A, payment will only be possible with Cashless Payment. This means that cash will no longer be accepted on site at the merchandise, food and drink stands. Your festival wristband will contain a so-called RFID chip, which makes Cashless Payment possible.
You can add funds both online in advance and during the festival and then shop quickly and conveniently on site.

The Eventportal, which allows you to top up your credit for W:O:A 2025, will be available mid-July!
1. Create an Account
Create an account in the Eventportal (available soon) or log in with your Wacken.ID.
If you have bought tickets for your friends, please remember to transfer the tickets to the respective friends in the Wacken Ticketcenter before.
It is only possible to manage one ticket per Wacken.ID at the Eventportal.
3. Paying at the festival site
With the credit on the pre-loaded RFID chip of your festival wristband, you can conveniently pay contactless at all merchandise, food and drink stands.
This means: No more searching for coins in your wallet and less waiting time!
Note: You can also leave a tip. Just let the bar staff know – the tip will be charged separately.
4. Top up on the festival site
In case your RFID chip runs out of credit, you can easily top up your festival wristband with credit at one of the many Top up stations on the site (with a one-time fee of €3). This can be done in cash or with an EC/credit card. You can also access the Eventportal online at any time and book mobile credit on your wristband (free of charge).
You can transfer remaining credit back at the end of the event via the Eventportal.
Cashless Payment - What does this mean?
Cashless Payment is payment via an RFID chip that will be attached to your festival wristband. This means you can easily pay for everything what your W:O:A heart desires, from beer to T-shirts, throughout the festival grounds.
Cashless Payment offers you many advantages: faster and easier checkouts at the counters and stands, so that waiting times are reduced. In addition, you always have enough money with you, safely stowed on your wrist.
Your advantages are:
- No cash and debit cards to lose while partying
- Shorter waiting times at the stands thanks to faster checkout
- All transaction receipts can be viewed online
- The RFID chip is firmly attached to the wristband
Additional credit required can be topped up online at the Eventportal or at one of the top up stations at the festival.
No. Only cashless payment via your festival wristband is accepted!
We attach great importance to the protection of your data. Any use of the chip, for example top up or purchase of a drink is recorded which means you are not completely anonymous. However, you don't have to worry because this data will remain confidential and will not be passed on to third parties. No personal profiles are created for marketing purposes. We adhere to the applicable data protection rules.
As soon as your personal data is no longer required for the provision of the services and the processing of payment transactions and remaining credit and there are no legal storage requirements to the contrary, it will be deleted.
Our service provider in the field of cashless payment is the company Global Event Technologies GmbH & Co. KG from Austria.

Registration and Top Up
We recommend that you register your ticket in advance and top up money online so that you can enjoy your festival stay without having to wait too much at top up stations. It is important to note that only one ticket per Wacken.ID can be managed in the Eventportal. Therefore, remember to forward the ticket of your festival companions in the Wacken Ticketcenter.
You don't need to register to be able to load money onto your chip on site. You should do this at the end of the event at the latest in order to get your remaining credit back after the event. You can do this online via the Eventportal.
You can top up your credit online at any time free of charge via the Eventportal or conveniently via our Wacken app.
To top up, you can also log into the Eventportal with your Wacken.ID and easily top up your credit there using the “Shop” button. If you don't have a Wacken.ID yet, you can creat it in advance at the Wacken Ticketcenter.
You can top up your credit online at any time free of charge at the Eventportal . We recommend that you do this from the comfort of your own home before you arrive. You will also find top up stations on the Holy Ground where you can top up your chip with cash, EC, credit and debit cards. The located terminals lare designed for either cash or cards, and both variants are represented at all stations.

If you have not previously topped up your credit online, we charge a one-off service fee of €3 for the first topping-up at the stations.
You can view your current balance and the transactions already made at any time in the app or the Eventportal.You can also have your balance displayed at the numerous top up stations. Unfortunately, due to server overload and other internet problems, there may be delays.
To give you as much flexibility as possible, there are no limits on how much you can top up. However, we recommend that you top up a little more money than you likely need so that you always have enough credit.
Only euros are accepted throughout the festival site so amounts in euros will be loaded onto your chip.
If you come from abroad: The exchange rate of your local currency depends on your bank and the payment method you use. It is best to find out about your conditions from your bank in advance.
Credit Management
From Monday, August 4th, 6:00 PM you can request a payout for your remaining balance via our Eventportal or via our app. The money will be credited within 14 days of the application.
You also have the option of donating your remaining balance to the Wacken Foundation.
The chip can be removed from the wristband after the festival. However, it should be kept until the repayment is processed.
No, the credit cannot be used in the next year. Please apply for a refund after the event.
Payment
The staff at the stands will take your order and show you the amount that should be debited from your credit. Then you hold the chip against the device to confirm the purchase and trigger the payment. Your remaining credit will then be shown on the display and you will receive your ordered goods.
If you notice that the wrong amount has been debited, please speak to the employee directly so that the transaction can be canceled and the correct amount will be debited to you.
We charge a deposit of €2 on our reusable cups, €4 for bigger cups. This will be deducted from your credit for each drink ordered. If you return your mug, the deposit will be credited back to you.
Yes, that's possible. Let the staff of the food or beverage booth know that you want to give a tip. The tip is flexible and will be charged separately.
Loss or Defect of the RFID chip
If you have lost your wristband with chip or only your chip, please go to the trouble shooting at the wristband exchange as soon as possible.
If you have already registered in the Eventportal, the old chip can be blocked and your credit can be transferred.
If you have not yet registered online, you will need your festival ticket so that the staff can find you in the system and block the chip accordingly.

If you want to block your chip and the credit on it, you have to go to the trouble shooting at the wristband exchange. There the staff can block the chip for you.
If your chip does not work, please go to the trouble shooting at the wristband exchange. A so-called chip repair can be carried out there and your credit can be transferred to a functioning chip.
