Wacken Virtual Guide – App for iPhone and Android

The first out of 2 Wacken apps for the festival 2011 is released (The festival app will follow soon!)

In company with the partner junaio and PETER PAUL AND MARY W:O:A will offer you as the first festival worldwide its own Virtual Guide App – of course free of charge!

The App is based on the new Augmented Reality technique. It is a channel on its own of the junaio Augmented Reality Browser.

What is it?

Well, your Smartphone acts as some kind of glasses. For that purpose it makes use of the camera and the GPS system. So, if you are on the festival site you can hold your camera in every direction and then the App shows you in a picture several points of interest including the corresponding information. Furthermore the App provides you the exact distance from your present whereabouts. That means you can find out easily where the stages are for example, where you can find the next fresh water tanks, how to get to the bus shuttle the fastest or where you can order your next beer. At the same time you will get information which band is currently performing on the particular stage or when the next shuttle will depart. The whole thing operates in real-time of course, so that you are always on the current status.

The junaio Wacken Channel is sub –divided into 3 areas to guarantee optimal clarity:

How does the whole thing work?

In your App Store or Android Market you simply download the Augmented Reality App of „junaio“for free.

If the App is installed you can find the “Wacken Virtual Guide” at „Channel“and „Search“. ATTENTION!!! The channel can only be found if you are at the area around Wacken! You can add the guide to your favorites. Furthermore the Virtual Guide can be directly found as Featured Pick from the welcome page of Junaio App during the whole festival.
