Wacken Rocks takes off > Adv. booking starts 17.10.08 at 17.00 h

Dear Metalheads,

after the successful start of Wacken Rocks Seaside we are going to take it up a notch in the anniversary year and offer you two festivals taking place parallel in Aurich (East Frisia) and in Rieden-Kreuth (Upper Palatinate) as a warm up for the Mother Ship.

We have chosen two really excellent locations and want to support the respective regions as well as the Metal family & scene intensively in the long run.

„Wacken Rocks South“ takes place for the first time from Thursday, 21.05. until Saturday, 23.05.2009 in the small bavarian town Rieden-Kreuth, in cooperation with the well-established concert agency Franken from Nuremberg.

Musically, „Wacken Rocks“ is going to have a completely independent profile.

Apart from traditional Heavy tunes, Classic Rock as well as exciting new Rock themes the festival also offers attractions aside the stages, located between gastronomy and market stalls, eg a special Middle Ages and Fantasy Market, autograph sessions, daily Aftershow Parties and an interesting additional agenda.

„Wacken Rocks Seaside“ goes into its second year and also takes place from 21.05. until 23.05.2009 turning the Open Air area in Aurich-Tannenhausen in the contemplative East Frisia into a mecca for real Metal and Hardrock fans.

In summer 2008 almost 5.000 fans of hard music came to the premiere of „Wacken rocks Seaside“ in Aurich.

With pleasant warm temperatures and top acts like Motörhead, Saxon, Machine Head, Torfrock and Drone as well as fantastic newcomer bands the visitors really got their money’s worth.

Due to the huge demand for camping grounds during „Wacken rocks Seaside“ 2008 the camping area around the festival grounds will be expanded accordingly in May 2009.

During both festivals the artists will perform "back to back" – except for newcomer bands as these are from the respective region:

More bands will follow within the next few weeks. Altogether about 40 bands will perform on 2 stages during 3 days.

The admission price is only € 69 for a 3-day-festival ticket incl. parking plus

€ 11 camping charge.

The camping tickets can be purchased by advance booking or at the box-office.

Stephan Weidner - Der W - at WACKEN ROCKS

Stephan Weidner was songwriter and mastermind of the Böhse Onkelz,

one of most successful German-speaking rock bands of all times.

This spring the guy from Frankfurt released his solo debut under the name "Der W" with the title "Schneller, Höher, Weidner" which made it directly to # 2 of the German longplay charts and stayed in the Top100 for almost half a year.

On his album "Der W" continues where he left with his band in 2005: modern, guitar-orientated Rock – guaranteed live – compatible and inciting.

After the end of the almost sold out headliner tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Weidner will take over the co-headliner position during Wacken Rocks.
