Wacken 2012 is history
Dear Metalheads!
The 23rd W:O:A is now part of our history and left a lot of very cool memories of another installment of our legendary festival - especially the best fans in the world and tremendously good bands with outstanding performances.
Unfortunately, the weather situation was not as good as in previous years - at all. Massive rains prior and during the festival created huge amounts of mud and left many of the grounds in a state that made driving hard or impossible. This makes an Open Air not easier for any of us. We are very thankful for your cooperation and understanding with all problems. Rest assured that we did everything we possibly could to fight the consequences of the weather. So we are very happy about the fact that you had a huge, wonderful party nevertheless!
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, because without you we would not be what we are: The biggest Heavy Metal festival in the world! Thank you very mud!!!
Some things were new this year, for instance the Bullhead City Circus, the giant new tent contain both the W.E.T. Stage and the Headbanger Stage, leave more room on the infield. There was a new handicapped stand, the Wacken Foundation Camp, the Thrash Of The Titans field, a new tool for arrival, bigger entrances for the main stages, new Wacken apps and further activities by Metal 4 Nature. We are glad about your positive responses to these innovations. This shows we are on the right path here. Thanks.
As last year, we had 75.000 paying visitors (sold out!) plus around 10.000 additional participants like artists, service provider and our awesome crew, press and media people, the so-called VIPs, medical and security teams and our “Full Metal Village inhabitants”
Please note: We look forward to your feedback and suggestions in our forums and the online survey. Subsequently they´ll be evaluated, published and taken into account for additional plans. Thank you very much!
We would also like to express our gratitude towards all the residents of the Wacken community, Gribbohm, Holstenniendorf, Besdorf, Bokelrehm, Bokhorst, Nienbüttel and Agethorst. They have shown great hospitality and we appreciated their support and identification with your/our festival.
Additional reports from W:O:A 2012 will follow, as will the photo gallery.
The festival is the headliner and the bands play their best-of set!
Wer are looking forward to the next year when for the 24th time it‘s
Faster - Harder - Louder >> See you in Wacken 2013 - rain or shine <<
Thanks for your support, Metalheads!
