World Cancer Day!

Created by WackenHelge
02/04/2025

4th of February: This day focuses on raising awareness about cancer and its prevention. Wacken Open Air has been working closely with DKMS for 11 years. Over 12,700 metalheads have already registered as donors, resulting in 90 successful stem cell donations worldwide - an impressive achievement that would not be possible without the support of the metal community.

The initiative began in 2014 when Melissa, the daughter of the late Wacken production manager Thomas Hess, fell ill with MDS and urgently needed a stem cell donation. This situation triggered a wave of solidarity that continues to this day.

Every registration counts: Every 27 seconds someone around the world gets blood cancer. A stem cell donation can be the last chance of survival for many patients. In order to increase the chances of finding a suitable donor, we are urgently looking for new donors.

Metal fans and helpful people between the ages of 17 and 55 can request a registration set online at any time: www.dkms.de/wacken. Open your mouth, put your chopsticks in – be a donor!

You can also support the DKMS with puchasing one of our W:O:A Wristband Sets!
