The winners of the guitar raffle and new bands!

Created by WackenJasper
04/20/2014

As announced before, we have a full load of information for you.

Sadly, the Running Order must be postponed. We will catch up with it asap!

We start with the Easter guitar raffle! The signed Wacken Open Air e-guitars enjoyed a great popularity, but just three fans could win in the end:

Sergio A. from Alcazar de San Juan wins the Amon Amarth e-guitar!

Stefan K. from Fuldatal gets the guitar signed by Saxon!

Patrick Z. from Neu Ulm is going to enjoy the Hammerfall edition!

Have fun with the guitars!

After some time without new bands, we have a full load of new names for the festival! More information about the new bands can be found at Billing/Bands.

Collibus

Progressive metal band Collibus from Manchester will visit the W:O:A for the very first time. The band was founded in 2004 and the second studio album was released earlier this year.

Russkaja

Also in 2014, the Viennese band Russkaja is going to bring a lot of fun to W:O:A! For the fourth time in a row, the band is going to drive the fans into madness when the psycho tractor starts its run.

Letz-Zep

The Led Zeppelin tribute band Letz-Zep is going to hit Wacken! Next to several hilarious concert reviews, the band was also voted with top grades by the original itself – you can’t get more Led Zeppelin anywhere at the moment. To quote Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant: “I walked in, I saw Me!!!”

Demonic Resurrection

From India comes the blackened death metal band Demonic Resurrection. The band was founded in 2000 and has already released three dark studio albums and an EP next to their extensive live experience. They will rock Wacken for the first time!

Fiddler’s Green

The Irish speed folk band Fiddler’s Green will return to Wacken for their second show. At last, the band released the album Winners & Boozers in 2013 which is the 12th studio album of the band.

And also the famous Bad Piper with his fire breathing bagpipe is going to play in Wacken as a part of our supporting program.

The bands from the first hours will return too!

Axe ´n Sex

The rock band Axe ´n Sex from Northern Germany played in Wacken in 1990, 92 and 93, which makes them one of the Festival’s old hands. In 1996 the band split up, but not it is time for them to return for the Wacken Anniversary!

5th Avenue

Another band from the first years, they rocked W:O:A in 1990, 92, 93 and 95. After the show in 1995, the band split up. In 2009, the band returned for one single show at Wacken and since 2012 they are playing again on a regular base. They also released a completely new album – after 18 years without a release – called “It’s been a long way…” on the 14th of April.

There are also four new Metal Battle finalists who will represent their countries at W:O:A this year:

Convivium are coming from the deep forests of Sweden. They will shake Wacken with their melodic but also vigorous songs!

Spain is going to send melodic death metal band In Mute to the Metal Battle finals.

Also Greece is going for full throttle: Kin Beneath Chorus are playing modern death metal with aggressivity and atmosphere.

Looking for some more classic metal? Roadwolf from Austria could be what you are looking for. The quartet plays heavy rock which remembers of NWoBHM and old-school hard rock bands.
