Strictly limited - UKE Blood Donor Shirt Event in Hamburg
Through the W:O:A Blood Donation Project, an incredible 47,892 liters of blood have already been collected! An amazing figure! However, blood banks are emptier than ever, and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) alone requires well over 3,000 donations per month. Therefore, Wacken Open Air, in cooperation with UKE and the Wacken Foundation, is once again calling for blood donations!
This year, there’s a special highlight for W:O:A 2024 attendees: Donors who come to the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf with the UKE festival wristband or the digital W:O:A ticket will receive a limited-edition T-shirt in the Wacken style.
Recently, UKE had a promotional stand at the Wacken Foundation on the Holy Ground in Wacken, where, in addition to distributing UKE festival wristbands for the blood donation campaign in Hamburg, they primarily raised awareness about the importance of blood donation.
At the event, alongside festival-goers, supporters of the W:O:A Blood Donation were present, as well as the protagonists of the official “W:O:A Blood Donation Clip.” The clip explains everything about the W:O:A Blood Donation, and Dr. Sven Peine (Head of the Institute of Transfusion Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf) provides all the important facts to consider when donating.
The blood donation campaign at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf is already in full swing and will conclude on Saturday, September 7, 2024, with the "Bikers Blood for Help Day."
On this day, the UKE blood donation center will be additionally open from 10 AM to 4 PM. There will be live music by VAN Steef, and for your culinary pleasure, the grill will be fired up. The Wacken Foundation will support the blood donation campaign with a stand on-site and will raffle off some goodies. Maybe a few limited UKE X W:O:A shirts will even be available for those dedicated donors who couldn't attend the W:O:A.
Appointment bookings for this day are encouraged. On all other days, blood can be donated during regular opening hours.
