Hamburg Metal Dayz 2016 confirm first bands

The first bunch of acts for the fifth Hamburg Metal Dayz has been confirmed: Equilibrium, Primordial, D-A-D, Gloryhammer and Orden Ogan will rock Hamburg's Markthalle on September 23 and 24 next year!

The Hamburg Metal Dayz consider themselves the metal side of Reeperbahn Festival taking place at the same time and offer varied acitvities such as workshops, panels, discussions, meet and greets and many more, as well as concerts of upcoming bands and well-established artists. This manifests in the first band announcement: Primordial from Ireland, which will play on Friday, September 23, belong to the founding fathers of celtic metal and create dark and raw songs on historical and philosphical topics. Equilibrium will play on Friday, too, and get things moving with their very own blend of pagan and power metal.

Things get less seriously funny with Gloryhammer. The Scotts (featuring Christopher Bowes of Alestorm-fame) act as fantasy heroes and gathered a frenetic fanbase around them with their funny, yet epic, power metal hits like "The Unicorn Invasion Of Dundee". Power metal is Orden Ogan's business, too. The German hopefuls offer slightly progressive hymns with a folky feeling and were among Powerwolf's special guests on their last tour. These last three bands are scheduled for Saturday, September 24.

This announcement rings in the final days of the Early Bird ticket special for Hamburg Metal Dayz 2016. Until December 31, these cheapos including entry for both days an an exclusive t-shirt are available from Metaltix.com for € 50 (plus fees). The final price will be € 60 (plus fees), so there is money to be saved! As of the 1st of January 2016, single-day tickets will also be available for € 35 (plus fees).
