Current travel information for W:O:A 2025

The 34th Wacken Open Air is just around the corner and many of you are probably waiting for travel information.
To mark the occasion, we've summarized all the important information here:
Arriving by train and bus:
Take advantage of the attractive bus and train offers whenever possible!
Our W:O:A shuttle bus takes you safely and affordably from Itzehoe train station to Wacken Open Air – and back again. This is free for all W:O:A ticket holders.
The shuttle bus timetable is available HERE.
Arriving by bike:
We have set up several bicycle parking spaces. Please use them. Bicycles parked near emergency exits will be removed at a cost.
A bicycle parking area is available, among other options, at the old bus stop (Dorfstraße).
Arriving by car:
Turn off your navigation system at the latest when you exit the motorway.
When approaching, focus on the signs on the roadside and the digital displays.
The instructions of the W:O:A Traffic Control and stewards must be followed at all times!
Allow sufficient time for your journey and make sure you have enough water, drinks, and snacks in your vehicle. Also bring a power bank so we can provide you with the latest information via our W:O:A app.
For current traffic information while traveling to Wacken Open Air, listen to the traffic report on Radio BOB!
The Schleswig-Holstein Police regularly post the current traffic situation. Follow the Schleswig-Holstein Police on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or Instagram.
Throughout the entire journey to the W:O:A, remember to form emergency lanes to avoid obstructing approaching emergency vehicles and to allow space for them to pass through.
On-site:
Have your access pass and ticket barcodes handy (whether digitally on your phone or printed out) – searching for it means hassle for you and unnecessary waiting for everyone else.
Please follow the instructions of the stewards and use the assigned parking spaces and areas. When parking and setting up tents, make sure you do so as efficiently as possible! We will be happy to answer any questions about the festival after you have parked your vehicle.
Please note that the visitor, parking, and camping regulations must be followed in all areas.
Our parking rules:
Two rows of vehicles will be parked side by side, with space for your tents and camping equipment between these rows. The lane that then forms on the other side of your vehicle serves as a traffic and emergency route for you and the emergency services!
Keep the traffic and emergency routes clear – otherwise you will be towed. The traffic and emergency routes are marked with red/white tape and are very important for access by emergency vehicles and the fire service.
ATTENTION: Depending on the weather conditions, it may be necessary to separate parking and camping on the sites. Please be prepared for this to avoid any unpleasant surprises in the event of an emergency.
Taxis:
You can find taxis at the bus stop. Unfortunately, there are a few bad apples among the taxis every year – so look out for our stickers on the accredited taxis and compare the prices with the posted price list on-site.
We have also set up an additional taxi stand for you at the old bus stop.
Don't negotiate fixed prices; contact the bus stop crew if you have any problems.
Tractors:
Private tractors have repeatedly caused significant property damage on the W:O:A, so their use is no longer permitted.
Motorhomes and Trailers:
Please note that vehicles and trailers weighing 3.5 tons or more represent a significant additional expense for us, especially in poor ground conditions.
Heavy Duty:
Vehicles weighing 7.5 tons or more must register with us in advance.
We cannot guarantee access for vehicles of this size and reserve the right to deny access to the site depending on space constraints.
Weather:
The weather is mixed.
Please always check our current weather information and activate push notifications and the location function in your W:O:A app.
Remember weatherproof clothing and sunscreen.
Make sure you have your tow hook ready to save time in an emergency.
Safety feature of the W:O:A app:
Help us get you from your location to the field as quickly and safely as possible by activating the "Location" function in our app.
You can find this in theW:O:A app settings.
We thank you for your support and wish you a safe, relaxed, and trouble-free journey.
See you in Wacken - Rain or Shine!
Your
W:O:A Team
