The first 34 bands for W:O:A 2025!

Created by WackenHelge
08/03/2024

W:O:A 2024 is nearing its end and, in addition to some rain and a whole lot of shine, had everything we could want from a festival. And while the last riffs are played, we continue exactly where we left off and as you can see, in 2025 it continues in a very futuristic way!

The first silhouettes are already appearing on the horizon next year - 34 to be exact.

This group is led by 4 unique, not entirely unknown faces from the metal scene:

Saltatio Mortis:
Old love never rusts. It doesn't matter that you spend most of your time on stage in knight's armor. Saltatio Mortis and the W:O:A – that is love. With their powerful album Finsterwacht, the Karlsruhe band have once again cemented their excellent reputation within the metal universe.
Without a doubt, the band around frontman Alea is one of the most successful representatives of hard music on the German market.
We don't have to introduce them to you anyway, because you seem to love the band as much as we do. They are back on the holy ground and are bringing with them a very special birthday set for their 25th anniversary. If we're being completely honest, we can't think of a better place to mark this milestone.

Machine head:
Machine Head – a thrash institution. At a time when the genre was on the verge of death, it was Machine Head who defied wind and weather as a benchmark set in stone. They mixed groove and brutality in their very own style. They found the melody and enriched it with merciless riff attacks.
“Burn My Eyes”, “Through The Ashes Of Empires” and above all the oversized “The Blackening” pass all the tests of time.
Only a few names in Wacken history will give metalheads as much goosebumps as Robb Flynn and Co. Their legendary show in 2009 is burned into the collective Wacken memory.
And because it was so nice, we're inviting the gentlemen back! We recommend: Warm up your neck muscles!

Papa Roach:
Iconic is just one of many words that comes to mind when we think of Papa Roach. How quickly time flies becomes unavoidably apparent when we realize that the band has been in the business for over 30 years. Hits like “Last Resort”, “Scars” and “Help” have just been released, haven’t they? The Americans have now been awarded multiple platinum records and have gained a gigantic fan base thanks to their unique mix of nu-metal, hard rock and alternative.
Anyone who knows the band can look forward to an energetic and rousing show, which frontman Jacoby Shaddix in particular brings to the stage.
The sound of an entire generation united in one show at the largest heavy metal festival in the world. This combination promises another unforgettable evening in the long list of legendary Wacken concerts.

Gojira:
When we talk about the greats of modern metal, the name Gojira cannot be missing. Well known on the Holy Ground for a long time, they are finally coming back to Wacken.
Anyone who followed their show at the Olympic Games knows exactly what we are in for: The band virtuously combines a wide range of styles in their music. These sounds are packaged in a stage production that is second to none. With “Magma” from 2016, the band became the first French band ever to place an album at number 1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums. A modern classic!
Metalheads buckle up, because one thing Gojira won't do is slow down. We can expect a lot here on the Holy Ground.

Of course, we don't stop there. One or two acquaintances also cast their shadows - and more new faces also appear on the horizon!
